Superintendent's Message [4]

Superintendent's Message [4]
It is an exciting time for all of us as we look forward to the 2012-2013 school year. I am thrilled to be joining the Dayton Independent School team, and I look forward to working together to move students forward. Everyone has been very welcoming in the schools and in the community of Dayton, and I am ready to get to work.

Certainly many of you are wondering about the changes that come with having a new superintendent and the direction that we are heading.  I will be spending a good deal of time my first year meeting with the people of Dayton schools and the Dayton community to determine where our strengths lie and where our areas of growth are. I believe that the students, staff, parents, and community members are the experts on Dayton and know the challenges and solutions better than anyone else. I am excited to hear from everyone about how we can improve student learning and achievement.   All ideas are welcome and no change is too small to make a difference. Often small changes make the biggest impact!

I do want to let you know a few brief things about my basic philosophy. First of all, I absolutely love working in the field of education; this is truly my life’s passion. There is no greater reward than seeing a student learn, grow, and improve! Secondly, I believe that great things come from hard work. Nothing great was ever accomplished by anything less than working hard. Third, I believe that a positive attitude is mandatory for anyone working with children. We must put all the negative forces that are working against us aside and focus on the many positive things that we do have.

Providing an environment in which students can learn and make an investment in themselves is what we will be about. I look forward to meeting everyone and working to make our schools the very best.

Please feel free to contact me or stop by and let me know how we are doing.
