Superintendent's Message [2]

Superintendent's Message [2]

As we head into the holiday season, and the New Year, we want you to know that we are very thankful for each one of you and appreciate what you do for our students. Please take some time over the holidays for family and friends and to enjoy the wonderful benefits this community has to offer.

As we enter the second half of the school year, I wanted to share with you the wonderful district-wide programs that are helping all children be successful learners. During the past six months, I have seen great things happening in Dayton Independent Schools, such as:

  • School assembly programs honoring our veterans
  • Enhanced literacy programs
  • PE programs that foster lifelong health and wellness activities
  • The embedded use of technology to improve academics
  • Improvement in the culture and climate
  • Partnerships between the schools and community
  • MAP (Measured Aptitude Progress) Assessment for individualized learning
  • Compass Learning at the both schools
  • ACT/Plan and Explore preparation at the high school
  • AimsWeb
  • Springboard Math grades 6-12
  • Math In Focus grades K-5
  • Wireless access throughout the district when students return from the break
