Dayton Digital Conversion Initiative

Dayton Independent Schools is working to transition our classrooms into 21st Century learning environments.  Starting at the high school, students will be issued laptop computers to leverage technology as an instructional tool in order to better prepare our students for 21st century success.

WHY ONE-TO-ONE?

Technology is intertwined every day in our personal and professional life. Many of our students have learned how to utilize these technologies to enhance their personal life by the time they enter 6th grade yet struggle how to use technology effectively in school.

By having access to their own device, providing anytime and anywhere learning, students will gain the technological skills that they will be asked to demonstrate in their future careers.

WHO GETS A DEVICE?

All students in Preschool through 12 will receive a school issued device.  The idea behind providing a school issued device is to help students understand the difference between personal and business devices. These devices will have specific filtering and management systems installed so to ensure proper student instructional engagement.

WHAT DEVICE IS PROVIDED?

  • Students in Preschool through the First grade will receive an iPAD
  • Students in grade Second through Sixth will receive a Chromebook Laptop
  • Students in grade Seventh through Twelfth will receive a Windows Laptop
