My name is Michelle Litzler and this is my 20th year teaching and my 4th year at Lincoln Elementary. I love working with the students, learning as much from them, as hopefully they do from me. A third of my day is spent in my classroom, and the rest is divided between 3 other teachers.
I am "getting close to the BIG 50" but feel young at heart. My students, which I call my "kids" keep me young. I do have one "KID" of my own. His name is Wes and he begins Pharmacy School at UK in the fall. I only get to see him about once a month when he comes home to work at Kroger's Pharmacy. We just celebrated his 21st birthday and it seems like yesterday that he was a little kid beginning grade school. I know I am bias, but he is a great person and I enjoy spending time with him whenever I can get it.
I absolutely love being at Lincoln Elementary. The students here are wonderful, and the staff I work with is incredible. Last year I started a "Mystery Reader" program in my classroom in which I invite staff members, central office staff, community members, and family members to come and read to my students. It was a great success, having lots of volunteers, including Lisa Cooney from Channel 5 news!! (If you are interested in being a Mystery Reader in my classroom, please contact me because we would love to have you.)
There are great things happening each day at Lincoln Elementary! I am so proud to be working here!!!
