On Tuesday, March 21, 2017, your junior son or daughter will be taking the ACT (American College Test) at Dayton High School. The Kentucky Department of Education is providing this opportunity free of cost for all 11th grade students throughout the Commonwealth. The scores on the ACT exam will count as the official and required pre-admission testing for most colleges and universities.
This testing day is very important and below are a few tips that will help your student perform to his/her fullest potential:
• Make sure they get plenty of sleep (think 8-9 hours) the night before the ACT, as well as the week leading up to the test
• Eat a good breakfast the morning of the test. Avoid sugar, which can cause a brief energy rush but then send you crashing. Make sure to hydrate with a few glasses of water.
• Make sure they get an early start to the day to get their blood flowing and their brain functioning.
Testing will begin at approximately 8:15 a.m. Your student should arrive early if they would like to have breakfast at school before the test begins and any student arriving after the test begins, will not be allowed to participate.
